American Idol thoughts

I’m disappointed about two of the contestants that didn’t make it through last night. First of all, I really liked Alexandria. I thought her choice of Chicago’s “If You Leave Me Now” was so cool and her performance was sweet and moving. She moves nicely into her head voice and falsetto, and back to her natural voice. You have to, for that song, I’m sure. Such a pretty, tall, thin girl too.

Another person with a beautiful voice is Jason. He put his all into his performance Tuesday night. I thought the judges were way off. Unfortunately, in most cases Randy sets the tone for Paula. So once he craps on it, Paula rarely changes direction. Have you noticed how much Jason’s son looks like his father? Lucky kid. His look reminds me of Duran Duran drummer Roger Taylor’s.

I don’t care about the other two, so I’m glad they were sent home.

Caricature by Lakisha Johnson

Look at this cool caricature, drawn by Lakisha Johnson. I’m using it on my Reggae Rhythm Update web site.

In other news, I’m enjoying my latest batch of homemade salsa. I decided to make my own after noticing that every store-bought brand has added salt. There’s enough salt on the chip so that salsa shouldn’t need any additional. My last creation includes organic diced tomatoes, jalepeno peppers, white onion, garlic, cilantro, orange pepper, and a little sugar in the raw. Thanks to my friend Dustin for helping me figure out how to make good tasting salsa.

Maybe some skiing this weekend

Hopefully the extreme cold of the winter is mostly over. This is the time of year when I ski a lot more. I’m looking forward to some great sunny days and great snow, say over the next eight weeks. This Saturday looks like a ride west to Berkshire East in Charlemont, MA.
